As we wrote in the previous article about the USA government supporting Georgia by signing the Grant Agreement for Promoting Sustainable Development in Georgia will strengthen democratic institutions and bring strong economic growth. The Ambassador noted that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will help the country, locally and nationally, to achieve greater transparency and accountability.

US Provides $67 million Grant to Georgia

Regarding to our last article about the relationship between US and Georgia, these 2 countries signed a Grant Agreement based on which the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will allocate USD 67 million-worth grant to Georgia with the prospect to increase the sum up to USD 330 million.

The signing ceremony of the grant agreement ‘For the Promotion of Sustainable Development of Georgia’ was held at the Administration of the Government of Georgia.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, and the Director of the USAID Mission, Peter Wiebler.

The ceremony was opened by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili and the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan.

The government administration reports that within the framework of the grant agreement, projects are planned to be implemented in the following areas: conflict resolution and stabilization, human rights, agriculture, private sector productivity, rule of law, democratic governance, civil society, basic education, social services, environment.

As a matter of fact we can see the improving relationship between Georgia and USA also with European countries and other middle east countries as well, we can see a very bright future for this country as the politicians are open minded and democratic and trying to build a strong relation with development countries around the region or far from the region.
